The ‘Hash House Harriers’ is a worldwide community and is sometimes referred to as the `Drinking club with a Running problem’
If you have lived in Delhi for any length of time, you may have seen or heard us. We are the jumbled hodgepodge of people running around your apartment building in our running clothes, while shouting such things as "On-on!" or "Checking" or "Are You?" provided amusing entertainment for the locals wondering who we are or what we were chasing.
The post-run ceremony is called a 'circle' or 'on-on' and it is presided over by the club’s Grand Master and Religious Advisor. It is at this ceremony that new hashers are initiated, new shoes are christened, hash handles are bestowed and penalties for infractions, such as shortcutting and late-coming, are meted out. Beer is continuously guzzled, come what may.
In Delhi, the Hash Community constitutes of 4 active hashes each with its own personality and running on different days. To know more about the 4 hashes, click on the Hash logos above.
